A good pillow keeps your head and neck comfortably supported so you wake up feeling rested, not stiff. Too flat and your head drops; too hard and it pushes your neck up. These pillows sit in the middle, which is why they suit most sleepers and most beds, and they come in a pair so both sides of the bed match.

• Back sleepers: a medium pillow like this one keeps your head level without pushing your chin forward.
• Side sleepers: you need enough height to fill the gap between your ear and shoulder. Choose the 20 x 30 inch / 50 x 76 cm size for a fuller feel, and add a cuddle pillow to hug.
