Buying a pillow cover should be simple, but a cover that's too small won't close and one that's too big looks baggy. This guide explains the common pillow and pillow cover sizes in India, how to measure your pillow, and which cover fits which pillow.
Common pillow cover sizes in India
| Name | Size | Used for |
|---|---|---|
| Standard | 17 x 27 inches / 43 x 68 cm | The most common bed pillow size in Indian homes |
| Large | 20 x 30 inches / 50 x 76 cm | Bigger, fuller bed pillows, often used on queen and king beds |
| Cuddle or body pillow | 20 x 54 inches / 50 x 137 cm | Long pillows you hug or rest against |
How to measure your pillow
- Lay the pillow flat on a bed or table.
- Measure the width from seam to seam across the short side.
- Measure the length from seam to seam along the long side.
- Measure the pillow itself, not its old cover, and don't press the filling down.
Choose the cover size that matches your pillow's measurements. A cover that matches closely looks neat and keeps the pillow from shifting inside it.

Tips for a perfect fit
- Very full pillows: if your pillow is extra plump, a cover that matches its measurements will look smooth and taut, which many people prefer.
- Add a protector: a waterproof pillow protector goes under the cover and keeps the pillow clean.
- Buy in pairs: most beds use two pillows, which is why our satin pillow covers come as a set of 2.
