As a guide, Indian queen mattresses are usually about 60 x 78 inches / 152 x 198 cm and king mattresses about 72 x 78 inches / 182 x 198 cm. Measure your mattress, including its depth, so there is enough sheet to tuck in on every side. Read our bedsheet size guide for more.

What does thread count mean?

Thread count is the number of threads woven into one square inch of fabric. A higher count usually means a smoother, denser sheet. Our satin bedsheets are 400 TC for a silky finish, and our cotton bedsheet is 300 TC, a good balance of softness and breathability. Thread count is not everything, though: the weave and finish matter just as much to how a sheet feels.

Flat sheets, not fitted

All our bedsheets are flat sheets that tuck in under the mattress. A flat sheet works on mattresses of different depths and gives a neat, hotel-style finish when tucked well. Tuck the foot first, then the sides, and fold the corners in.

Bedsheets for every season

  • Summer: cotton lets heat escape and absorbs sweat, so it stays fresh on humid nights.
  • Monsoon: keep a spare set so there is always a dry one ready while the other dries.
  • Winter and festivals: satin looks rich and feels cosy, and makes the bedroom feel special for guests.

How many bedsheets do you need?

Most homes do well with two or three sets per bed: one on the bed, one in the wash, and one spare for guests or a quick change. Changing sheets every week keeps your bed fresh.

Protect your mattress too

A good bedsheet looks best on a fresh mattress. Our 100% waterproof mattress protector goes under your sheet and keeps spills and stains off the mattress. Finish the bed with satin pillow covers.

How to make a bed with a flat sheet

  • Spread the sheet over the mattress with an equal overhang on both sides.
  • Tuck the foot end under the mattress first, pulling it smooth.
  • For neat hotel corners, lift the side hanging fabric into a triangle on top of the bed, tuck the part below it, then drop the triangle and tuck that in.
  • Tuck the sides along the length, then the head end, and add pillows in their matching covers.

Caring for your bedsheets

  • Satin: wash cold on a gentle cycle, away from rough items like jeans and towels, and air dry in the shade. See how to wash satin bedsheets.
  • Cotton: wash cold with similar colours and air dry. Cotton gets softer with every wash.
  • Both: skip bleach, and follow the Washcare details on each product page.

Bedsheets as a gift

A fresh bedsheet set is one of the most useful gifts for a wedding, a new home or a festival: everyone needs one, and satin feels like a treat. See ideas in our bedding gift guide.
