Buying a bedsheet that turns out too small is frustrating: it won't tuck in, and it slips off every night. The good news is that choosing the right size is easy once you know your mattress size. Here's a simple guide to bed and bedsheet sizes in India.
Step 1: Know your mattress size
Mattress sizes vary a little between brands, but most Indian mattresses fall close to these sizes:

The quickest way to be sure is to measure your own mattress: length, width and depth (height). Deeper mattresses need larger sheets so there's enough fabric to tuck under.
Step 2: Match the bedsheet to the mattress
A flat bedsheet needs to be wider and longer than the mattress so it can hang over the sides and tuck in. As a general guide:

If you're between two sizes, or your mattress is extra deep, go one size up. A sheet that's a little big always works; one that's too small never does.
Step 3: Check the pillow covers
Most bedsheet sets come with pillow covers: usually 1 for a single and 2 for a double, queen or king. Standard pillow covers are around 17 x 27 inches / 43 x 68 cm, and large ones around 20 x 30 inches / 50 x 76 cm. Measure your pillows too, especially if they're thick or oversized.
